Boystown turns over 910 PPEs for the frontliners

By: Steve Ray Macapil/ Reporter

The Sisters of Mary School (SMS)-Boystown accepted the offer of the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) to sew and make Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) as a simple way of doing her share of protecting and helping the frontliners amidst the pandemic.

Last May 10, 2020, more than 900 PPEs were turned over by the SMS-Boystown to TESDA for some hospitals particularly to Vicente Sotto Hospital and Toledo.

TESDA provided the materials in producing the PPEs.

It included cloth, garters and zippers with sliders. On the other hand, the students specializing in Tailoring, and some volunteer sisters delivered the service in sewing the PPEs.

Gil Superior, the ISMO (Industrial Sewing Machine Operation) custodian, led the sewing activity while Sr. Eva R. Aringo, the School Principal, instructed the students to perfectly sew the materials into the desired PPEs.

After they finish making the PPEs, they started to pack the finished products. During the packing, they inserted some cards which were made by the students.

“I just want to show my gratitude to the frontliners who chose to sacrifice and put themselves in danger just to care for those who have been infected by this new virus. The simple way of packing the finished PPE products and inserting cards will give them some sort of joy,” said Jhon Rey Batingal, a grade 12 student.

Our frontliners cannot do it alone. They need our help, our support, and our care to inspire them, and indeed we are showing it through our simple yet, practical donations to protect them from being contaminated by the disease.
